The 2010 Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient is J. Michael Pearson (AKA Mike), husband of RHMS faculty member, Liz Pearson. He received his award on May 7, 2010 at the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club. This is the highest honor given at UTC. Mrs. Connie Lawson, 4th grade teacher at RHMS, received the 2010 Tennessee Outstanding Social Studies Teacher of the Year award on March 12th in Memphis, TN. This award was offered by the Tennessee Council of the Social Studies
2010 County 4-H Poster Winners
Summer Lund and Emalee Blevins won the 4-H County Poster contest. Summer's poster message was 'SPREAD IT' and Emalee's was 'MOOV-it Around' relating the message to pass on the knowledge about 4-H and all the wonderful things it does for our children. Educator of the Week - March 30, 2010

Sequatchie Valley Electric Coop Contest Winners
The REGIONAL 2010 winners of the SVEC essay contest are: 1ST PLACE: Sarah Blevins, 3RD PLACE: JT Huckabee, and 2ND PLACE: Chelsea Springs. Sarah will receive an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. during the summer.
Marion County 4-H Public Speaking Contest
RHMS had two winners in the recent 4-H speech competition.
Zack Hudson won for the 8th Grade.
Logan Coates won the the 10th Grade.
At the next level Zack and Logan placed 4th in their respective divisions. Congratulations to you both!
RHMS Kindergarten Wins Second Place
The kindergarten class placed 2nd in the South Pittsburg parade. The kids had a wonderful time and a special thank you that should go out to Ben Hardin and Sequatchie Concrete for the use of the truck and trailer and Mr. Terry Case for the use of the armory to construct the float. Thanks to all the parents that came together and made it a success. All-Star Delegate at the Chattanooga Area Model United Nations Conference - Blake Tate
Blake will continue on to New York City in the spring to compete in the National Model UN Conference.
Both essays will go on in competition. These contests are provided by the VFW every year to provide scholarship money to deserving students who demonstrate American values.
